UNION SQUARE
...When ever I am in Union Square, waiting for V at the "Meeting Spot" (the subway entrance on the southwest corner of Union Square) I enjoy watching the skaters, skate around doing their little tricks. Most of the time they just ali or do kick-flips but it is fun just the same. They will just keep doing the same thing over and over. I think that maybe they are training so they can head down to Washington Square and hang out with the better skaters...
...It is always a treat to walk in any park with a "dog park". To watch all these dogs running loose - playing, sniffing, crapping, peeing, screwing, digging, chasing and jumping onto park benches. The owners hanging out in the fenced in area that has a sign - "People with dogs - ONLY". You know they feel special and actually they are. They have dog. The whole interaction that goes on in the park between the dogs and the people is so fascinating. Even the people standing outside of the fenced area pointing and laughing and the constant "Oh that is sooo cute". I find it much more entertaining than a zoo and it is just average people and normal domestic animals...
...A drizzly day in the park watching the dogs I saw, what I thought, was the funniest thing. There were about 5 midsize dogs in the park running around chasing each other and humping. I watched for a while as the people would constantly pull dogs off of each other when I noticed a man pulling a park bench away from the fence. I thought maybe he was going to get his dogs to do flips off it or something. Once he pulled it about a foot and a half away from the fence I understood. This Irish Setter set out on a run with another dog close behind. The Setter rounded a picnic table doing a 180 down the fence line between the bench and fence doing another 180 past the bench and losing the other dog. This just made me wonder if this man would move the park bench everyday so his dog could run the circles around the bench and picnic table. Good stuff...
