MILO'S
Williamsburg
| This is the neighborhood bar I most frequent. It is actually in Williamsburg which is just south of Greenpoint but it is across the street from the L-stop where I catch the bus home. This makes it very convenient if you want a drink or a bite to eat. The food is mediocre but it has a nice atmosphere. It is dimly lit by satellite looking lights with small bulbs on the end these spike things. There are two brick fireplaces with one always burning. Besides the 10 or so tables there are also half circle shaped booths scattered about. If a jazz band isn’t playing you can check out the juke box which has an interesting assortment including Cat Power, Bauhaus, Mazzy Star and Michael Jackson’s Thriller. If you go on weekday nights you might be served by Jameson, the bartender, from Houston or Ashley, from Alabama, who also works at the famous Coyote Ugly. The clientele is an interesting mix that love to talk. I have met quite a few Texans and even someone from Edinburgh. |
