Brooklyn Museum of Art

First I must say I was very impressed with the Museum and Brooklyn for having such a museum.  As soon as I got out of the subway I could see this large white building with 50 or 60 foot columns.  When Vanessa suggested going to the museum I was a little hesitant.  If they weren't having a photo exhibit, with the controversial "Last supper photo", I might not have gone.  I was really expecting a little, run down, old tenement that used to be the projects or something.  It was quite the opposite.

V and I went mainly for to see Committed to the Image: Contemporary Black Photographers.  I really enjoyed the exhibt and there were some excellent photographs.  After the exhibit we wondered around the rest of the museum.  It was quite large so I don't know if we saw all of it but it reminded me of a smaller Met.  It had different rooms with different artifacts and exhibits and time periods.  It wasn't much different from many other museums but it had a large collection of art from paintings to furniture to African idols.  It is worth a visit.
