You don't
have to spend that much time in New York to figure out this city is all
about eating. In Manhattan alone there must be a couple thousand
restaurants which is a lot for an island that is a few miles wide and 10 or so miles
long. Also 95% of these restaurants are unique, non franchise
places to eat. It makes it tough sometimes to figure out where to
go. It especially makes it hard when you don't know what type of
food you want. Unlike other places I lived I just had to decide on
Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Seafood or American. Here I have to
decide on (in alphabetical order) Afghan, African, American, Argentine,
Asian, Austrian, Belgian, Brazilian, Caribbean, Chinese, Eastern
European, Eclectic, French, German, Greek, Indian & Sri Lankan,
Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin American, Malaysian,
Mediterranean, Mexican, Middle Eastern, Moroccan, Polish, Portuguese,
Russian, Scandinavian, Seafood, Spanish, Thai, Turkish or
Vietnamese. And these are general because you can be more specific
like American Creative / American Regional or Northern Italian /
Southern Italian and so on. It really is out of hand.
So far I have only shaven a small sliver of ice off the North Pole when it comes to the number of restaurants I have gone tried. I will try to write a little about each place but this could be a whole web site in itself. Actually there are quite a few web sites dedicated to eating in New York. |
