The Great Implosion

It was Sunday, 7:02 AM, we were on the roof of the apartment when two 400 foot natural gas tanks were imploded.  It was surreal.  That is about all I can say about it.  Maybe I can say a little more.

I heard a few weeks before that KeySpan, the New York power company, was going to implode two tanks that have been "landmarks of the Brooklyn skyline for more than 50 years."  So for the next couple weeks I was I was greatly anticipating the event because I would get to take pictures of something blowing up or I guess - sucking in.  Sunday morning I was woken by the sound of a bike being locked up.  I knew it would be Laurie (she is in V's Theatre Company) who said she wanted to come over and watch the implosion.  I slowly stumbled out of bed, roused V up and buzzed Laurie in.  We got all of my stuff together and lugged it out the window and up the ladder.  After I set up I looked around and saw people on roofs all over the place.  It was good to know we weren't the only crazy people getting up a 6:30 to watch a couple towers implode.  So 7:00 came and went and I was a bit concerned that it had been postponed.  As my head was turned to V I heard Oh My God then a big BOOM and I started squeezing the cable release for my camera before I even turned my head.  It only lasted about 10 seconds and the towers were gone.  Then we gathered up our stuff, climbed down, talked for a few minutes about how insane it was and went back to sleep.

I didn't post all the pictures I took because it was just to many.  This is about every other or every third picture.
