V and Me in a Canoe
| While surfing the web for things to do in Vermont I came across a little blurb about taking a canoe trip down the river under the moonlight. It sounded romantic so I made reservations. Sunday, our last night, we went looking for the place where we were suppose to go for the canoes. After an hour of driving back roads and dirt roads we finally came up to a large house on the side of a hill. The house was very nice but also a little creepy. The first thought that Vanessa and I first had was - this is a Cult. As we pulled up to the back of the house we checked out the cars and people for any signs of religious fanaticism. Everything looked okay but we decided to leave our stuff in the car in case things looked weird we could run back to the car and drive away. We cautiously walked in and found out it was some ecological society. Shwoow. We quickly grabbed our things and headed down to the river with a group of 14 or so. Neither one of us had much experience with canoes but once we were in it was easy sailing or rowing I guess I should say. The plan as our guide told us was to row down river as the sun set and then turn around and row up river while the moon rose. That is exactly what happened and it was spectacular. It truly was a life changing experience. That is all I can say. |
